Your Best of 2022 Lists

It’s that time of year when media channels are flooded with “Best of 2022” lists. You’ve probably seen them. Best movies. Best albums. Best books.

As this year comes to a close, I want to challenge you to create a few Best of 2022 lists of your own. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Best accomplishments of 2022

  • Best changes I made in 2022

  • Best things I learned in 2022

  • Best relationships I nurtured in 2022

  • Best habits I developed in 2022

  • Best boundaries I set and kept in 2022

Many leaders I work with are incredibly gifted at fixing and improving things like systems, procedures and cultures. It’s part of what makes them effective leaders. But it also means that they focus more on what’s broken than on what’s going well, giving their inner critic lots to chirp about. I’m no longer surprised by how many leaders who are objectively successful feel as though they are failing.

That’s why creating your “Best of 2022” lists matters. While I’ve met a few leaders who didn’t need more air to inflate their egos, I’ve met far more who do.

So go ahead. Make your lists. Check them twice. Pump yourself up a bit and let the momentum carry you into a New Year.
